Cagri Cosar has joined London Solicitors as a Partner to lead our City of London office. He is acting as the Head of Corporate and Business Law Department. He is a practicing solicitor in England and Wales and also registered as a practicing lawyer with İstanbul Bar Association in Turkey. Cagri, as a dual-qualified solicitor, also holds an LL.M. in International Law from the University of Westminster which equipped him with a cross-border perspective.
He has vast experience in dealing with matters for a variety of domestic and international clients in FinTech, blockchain, cryptocurrencies, e-commerce, IT and insur-tech sectors. He directs various regulatory compliance projects including but not limited to compliance to the regulations on financial services, anti-money laundering, KYC and personal data protection. Cagri also advises his clients on a wide range of cross-border commercial transactions including IT, licensing and outsourcing contracts as well as franchising, distribution and other types of procurement arrangements. He is known as a pragmatic adviser who cuts through complexity to find sensible and practical solutions.
His experience covers many aspects of corporate and commercial law from due diligence investigations, contract drafting, and negotiating and structuring deals to advising on regulatory aspects for those transactions. He has a proven track record in the incorporation of foreign-capitalised companies, structuring the investment, conducting share sale transactions, asset sales, joint ventures, investment agreements and resolving shareholders’ conflicts. Cagri also advises on Intellectual Property (IP) rights including but not limited to IP registration and strategy, IP infringement, IP disputes and IP commercialisation.
Cagri’s first degree was Political Science and International Relations from Marmara University. He then completed his LL.B. degree in University of Westminster where he later got his LL.M. in International Law. He also holds a Turkish Law Degree from Marmara University. Cagri lectures on Business Law at Kaplan International Colleges London. He currently sat as a Director and Trustee at Hackney Cypriot Association, and he is also a member of AIJA since 2016. Cagri enjoys watching football, his other interest includes travelling and hiking.
